Who We Are

I first hit a squash ball twenty years ago, and despite the previous twenty years spent as a tennis player in the junior ranks and in college, I fell in love with squash. Two years after seeing it played for the first time, I became a certified squash teaching pro at the Commodore Squash Club in St. Paul, MN.  The next 10 years saw my passion for the game rewarded with a consistent rise in the ranks as a player.  Eventually, I held the Minnesota State Champion title for 4 years, achieved a top U.S. National ranking of 3 in the 40+ division, and was ranked 52 in the U.S. Pro Series in 1997.  Like many dads, the birth of 2 children in 2 years means my court time has diminished, but my love of squash continues unabated, and both sons have wicked forehands.  

So what's an aging player doing running an online business?  Extending what's already there.  My entire professional career has been devoted to squash in one form or another.  Following a series of head squash positions at public and private clubs, I came to Chicago in 1999 where I am currently Athletic Director at the University Club of Chicago.  Stringing racquets since I was 9 years old, working in pro shops since I was 17, and owning my own bricks and mortar pro shop for 8 years means my love of the game is not confined to perfecting my backhand dropshot, but extends to studying, evaluating, and merchandising the latest equipment trends.  One of the most gratifying aspects of these efforts has been my involvement in test playing and racquet development for Head, Dunlop, Ektelon, Prince and currently Wilson racquet companies.  In both my bricks and mortar store at the University Club of Chicago and PureSquash.com,  I have made quality and customer service my top priorities.
